Tax
Tax checks whether the marketplace revenue Fours already holds is correctly represented in your tax software. It reads your AWS, Azure, GCP, and Snowflake revenue for a period, compares every invoice with the tax records in your Avalara account and shows you which sales are covered, which have no tax record, which disagree with their record, and where tax was collected twice. From the same screen you can submit a correction that Fours writes to Avalara for you, or, when the period has already been filed, track the discrepancy as an amended return.
It is for the finance or tax owner who answers “did every marketplace sale make it into our tax filings?” It does not calculate the tax you charge your buyers, and it does not file anything with a tax authority.
Tax is an app in Insulin: open Tax from the Dock. The window has two destinations down the left — Sales Tax, with the Audit, Runs, Action history, and Amended returns tabs, and Settings.
Start here
- Set up Tax — connect Avalara in Integrations, finish the three-step setup in the app, and keep your selling entity, corrections consent, and filing frequencies current in Settings.
- Audits and findings — run an audit for a month or a custom range, read the revenue-coverage figure, and work the Uncovered, Ambiguous, and Duplicate queues finding by finding.
Fix what the audit found
- Corrections — the one correction Fours recommends for a finding, which corrections each provider accepts, what Fours writes to the provider when you submit, and the Action history that records every attempt.
- Amended returns — how Fours decides a period is already filed, the filing calendar of filed-period discrepancies, and taking a return through sign-off to submitted.
Scope and limits
Revenue sources. Audits cover AWS, Azure, GCP, and Snowflake revenue. Stripe revenue is not audited.
Tax provider. Tax works with Avalara. An audit reads every committed tax document for your selling entity, and corrections are written to Avalara — see Corrections.
Nothing is written without you. An audit only reads. A correction is written to your provider only when someone submits it — and, except for revising an existing record on an AWS, Azure, or Snowflake sale, only if your organization has turned corrections on. The assistant in the app can fill in a correction form for you but cannot submit it.
Nothing is filed for you. Submitting an amended return marks Fours’ own record as submitted; it sends nothing to your tax provider or to any tax authority. You file the amendment yourself.
Who can do what. Every member of the organization can open Tax and read everything in it, including exports. Running an audit, changing settings, ignoring a finding, submitting a correction, flagging a finding, requesting sign-off, and submitting an amended return need the Admin or Editor role. Signing off an amended return is open to the one member named as its approver, whatever their role.
Only in Insulin. Tax has no page in the Fours console and is not part of the public API, SDKs, or MCP server. To take findings elsewhere, use the CSV exports on the Audit and Action history tabs.
