# Create Funding

Apply for AWS partner funding directly from a HubSpot deal using the Fours App — any of the seven AWS funding programs, from Market Development Funds and Proof of Concept to the Migration Acceleration Program and MPOPP Grow.

---

## Overview

Funding is money AWS contributes to the work you do around a deal — a marketing activity, a proof of concept, a migration, or promotional credits for the customer. You apply for it, AWS reviews it, and the approved amount is paid out as cash or as credits.

The **Funding** tab on the Fours app card is where those applications live. From it you can submit a new funding application against the deal in front of you, and see every application already raised from that deal with its current status.

:::info

Funding is the one action on the Fours card that does **not** need a product in Fours. An offer or a resale authorization is built on a product; a funding application is built on the deal and your AWS ACE integration.
:::

For the console-side view of the funding lifecycle — what each status means, how approvals and claims progress, and where funding lives outside HubSpot — see [Co-Sell Funding](/cosell/cosell-funding/).

## Availability

Funding in HubSpot is **AWS only**, and it requires the **AWS ACE (Partner Central)** integration.

- If your Fours organization has no AWS integration, the **New Funding** button does not appear on the card at all.
- If your AWS connection still uses the legacy AWS S3 API, the button appears but opens an **AWS S3 API Deprecated** notice instead of the form. Ask your administrator to upgrade to the AWS ACE API.

There is no Azure or GCP equivalent of this tab.

## Prerequisites

- The Fours App must be set up in HubSpot and the Fours app card must be visible on your deal pages. If you haven't done that yet, see [Configuration](/hubspot-app/hubspot-app-configuration/).
- Your Fours organization must have an **AWS ACE (Partner Central)** integration. No product is required.

## Create a funding application

You pick the program on the deal, Fours pre-fills the form from the deal, and on submit Fours sends the application to AWS Partner Central and tracks it on the deal's **Funding** tab:

```d2
direction: right
deal: "HubSpot deal\n(New Funding)"
suger: "Fours"
aws: "AWS Partner Central"
tab: "Funding tab\non the deal"
deal -> suger: "program +\nfunding type"
suger -> deal: "form pre-filled from\nthe HubSpot mapping" {style.stroke-dash: 4}
deal -> suger: "Submit"
suger -> aws: "funding\napplication"
aws -> suger: "status and\nexternal ID" {style.stroke-dash: 4}
suger -> tab: "status and\ndetails"
```

1. Open the deal and click the **"Suger"** tab at the top of the page.

2. Click the **"New Funding"** button. The **Create Funding Application** panel opens.

3. Choose a **Program Type** and a **Funding Type**. Both are required before the form appears — until then the panel reads *"Select a program type and funding type to load the funding form prefilled from this deal."*

    | Program Type | Funding Type |
    | --- | --- |
    | **Market Development Funds** | `Cash` or `Credit` |
    | **Proof of Concept** | `Cash` or `Credit` |
    | **Migration Acceleration Program** | `Cash` only |
    | **PIF: SCA GenAI Proof Of Concept Funding** | `Cash` or `Credit` |
    | **PIF: SCA GenAI Marketing Development Funds** | `Cash` or `Credit` |
    | **ISV Workload Migration** | `Credit` only |
    | **MPOPP Grow** | `Credit` only |

    When a program has only one funding type, Fours selects it for you and the **Funding Type** field is locked. What each program pays for is covered in [Choose a funding program](/cosell/cosell-funding/#choose-a-funding-program).

4. Wait for the pre-fill to finish. As soon as both selections are made, Fours maps your deal onto the funding form and a **"Previewing from deal..."** spinner runs while it does.

    - If part of the deal could not be mapped cleanly, a **Mapping warnings** alert appears above the form, naming each field and the reason. Check those fields before you submit. A field Fours could not fill at all is simply left for you to complete — no alert is shown for it.
    - If there is no mapping for this program and funding type, a **Preview unavailable** warning appears and the form opens empty, ready to fill in by hand.
    - Changing **Program Type** or **Funding Type** clears the pre-filled values and runs the preview again, so values from the previous selection never leak into the new form.

    HubSpot has its own funding mappings: an admin sets them up in the Fours Console for HubSpot, one per program and funding type, and a Salesforce mapping for the same program does not pre-fill a HubSpot deal. See [Create AWS funding from a HubSpot deal](/cosell/cosell-funding/#create-aws-funding-from-a-hubspot-deal).

5. Complete the form. It is organized into accordions — **Funding Request**, **Opportunity**, **Project Information**, **Cash Request** or **Credit Request**, **Marketplace Offer**, **Wallet** and **Attachment** — and shows only the ones your program uses. The **Migration Acceleration Program** has a layout of its own; see [Migration Acceleration Program](#migration-acceleration-program) below.

    Every other program asks for **Project Name**, **Business Description**, the partner contact's **First Name**, **Last Name**, **Email Address** and **Job Title**, **Planned Start Date**, **Planned End Date**, **AWS Account ID**, **Country Activity is Executed** and — for a US activity — **State(s) Activity is Executed**, and takes an **Attachment** for supporting documents. On top of that:

    | Program | Linked AWS opportunity | Wallet | Also asks for |
    | --- | --- | --- | --- |
    | **Market Development Funds** | — | Required | The WWPS consent checkbox |
    | **Proof of Concept** | Yes — required | — | **Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)**, optional **AWS Pricing Calculator URL(s)**, optional **Customer Also Considering** |
    | **PIF: SCA GenAI Proof Of Concept Funding** | Yes | — | **Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)**, optional **AWS Pricing Calculator URL(s)**, the WWPS consent checkbox |
    | **PIF: SCA GenAI Marketing Development Funds** | — | Required | The WWPS consent checkbox |
    | **ISV Workload Migration** | Yes | — | **Workload Source Being Deprecated**, **Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)** and its **Annual Recurring Revenue Calculation Method** |
    | **MPOPP Grow** | Yes | Optional | **Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)**, **Total Contract Value**, optional **AWS Pricing Calculator URL(s)**, **Customer Also Considering**, **Workload Name**, **Project Type**, *Is this a new service being deployed?*, optional **Other Notes**, the WWPS consent checkbox, and the **Marketplace Offer** accordion |

    - **Linked AWS Opportunity ID** is pre-filled with the deal's own AWS opportunity when it has one. The list offers only opportunities at a stage the program accepts:

        | Program | Opportunity stages offered |
        | --- | --- |
        | **Proof of Concept**, **PIF: SCA GenAI Proof Of Concept Funding** | Technical Validation, Business Validation, Committed, Launched |
        | **ISV Workload Migration** | Launched |
        | **MPOPP Grow** | Business Validation, Committed, Launched |
        | **Migration Acceleration Program** | Any stage |

    - **Wallet** lists your organization's active wallets for that program — Market Development Funds, PIF: SCA GenAI Marketing Development Funds and MPOPP Grow each draw on wallets of their own.
    - **Dates.** **Planned Start Date** must be at least 14 days from today and in the current year. **Planned End Date** must be in the current year, after the start date, and before the 16 December to 1 January blackout.
    - **Low ARR.** On **Proof of Concept** and **PIF: SCA GenAI Proof Of Concept Funding**, an ARR below 10,000 needs an **AWS Pricing Calculator URL(s)** entry or an attachment of type **AWS Pricing Calculator**.
    - **MPOPP Grow's Marketplace Offer.** Once you pick the opportunity, Fours fills **AWS Marketplace Offer - optional** with the Marketplace offer linked to that opportunity, and **AWS Marketplace Product - optional** from that offer. Leave both empty if the opportunity has no linked offer. If the offer list cannot load, the field reads *"Failed to load offers — reopen the panel to retry"*.
    - **Attachment.** Each application can carry one attachment. Pick its **Attachment Type**, then choose the file under **Attachment File** from your organization's [Files](/settings/files/), or click **Upload new File** to add one. Every program except **ISV Workload Migration** offers the same 19 types; ISV Workload Migration offers 7 of them. Both lists are in [Attach supporting documents](/cosell/cosell-funding/#attach-supporting-documents).

6. Fill in the **Cash Request** or **Credit Request** accordion — see [Cash requests](#cash-requests) and [Credit requests](#credit-requests) below.

7. Click **Submit**. Fours confirms with **"Funding application submitted!"**, returns you to the **Funding** tab, and the new application appears in the table. If it does not show up immediately, refresh the card. If anything on the form is still invalid, the panel says *"Please check and fix the form errors"* instead.

### Cash requests

Every cash request asks for your **Payee Central Account Profile ID** — 10 to 13 letters or digits, from your company's Amazon Payee Central profile. It replaces the **Invoice Entity Name**, **Invoice Remit Country** and **Invoice Remit Address** fields, which are gone from the form, and a cash request cannot be submitted without it. The rest of the accordion depends on the program:

| Program | Cash Request | Cash Claims |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Market Development Funds** | **Currency** and the profile ID | One or more claims, each with **MDF Cash Activity Type**, **Start Date**, **End Date**, **Total Cost of MDF Activity**, **Requested MDF Cash Funding** and **Number of Projected Leads** |
| **Proof of Concept** | **Currency**, the profile ID, **Total Cost of Activity**, and optional **Partner Contribution** and **Customer Contribution** | Exactly one claim, with a **Start Date** and **End Date** |
| **PIF: SCA GenAI Proof Of Concept Funding** | As Proof of Concept, plus **Requested Amount** — the amount you ask AWS for | One or more claims with a **Start Date** and **End Date**, plus optional **Expected Revenue Ramp (USD)** and **Percentage Completion (%)** |
| **PIF: SCA GenAI Marketing Development Funds** | As PIF: SCA GenAI Proof Of Concept Funding | One or more claims with a **Start Date** and **End Date** |

Where a program takes several claims, **Add Cash Claim** adds one, up to 10, and **Remove Claim** drops one. Claim dates must be in the current year and inside the planned start and end dates.

On a Market Development Funds claim, **MDF Funding %** is calculated from the amounts you enter and is capped at 50 — you cannot request more than half the activity cost.

### Credit requests

| Program | Credit Request |
| --- | --- |
| **Market Development Funds** | **Currency**, **Value Per Code**, **Number of Codes**, **Requested Amount** (calculated for you), **MDF Credit Activity Type** |
| **Proof of Concept** | **Currency**, **Total Cost of Project** |
| **PIF: SCA GenAI** programs and **MPOPP Grow** | **Currency**, **Number of Codes** (at least 1), **Value Per Code (USD)** |
| **ISV Workload Migration** | **Request Credit Amount**, in whole numbers |

### Migration Acceleration Program

A Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) request is always cash, and its form is laid out differently:

| Accordion | What you enter |
| --- | --- |
| **Migration Details** | **Migration Phase** — **Assess** or **Mobilize** — and **Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)**, which must be at least 100,000. On **Mobilize**, a checkbox confirms that over 75% of the servers being migrated are VMs hosted on VMware. |
| **Opportunity** | **Linked AWS Opportunity ID**, from opportunities at any stage |
| **Project Details** | **Project Name** (up to 300 characters), **Business Description** (up to 5,000), **Project Start Date (UTC)** — at least 14 days from today and in the current year — and **Project End Date (UTC)**, on or after the start; a 12-digit **AWS Account ID**, **Country** and **States**, optional **AWS Pricing Calculator Estimates**, and the partner contact |
| **Cash Request** | **Currency**, **Total Cost of Project**, **Total Amount Requested from AWS** (whole numbers) and **Payee Central Account Profile ID**. The currency and profile ID must match your company's Amazon Payee Central account. |
| **Attachment** | Supporting documents |

For what AWS expects on a MAP request, see [Migration Acceleration Program requests](/cosell/cosell-funding/#migration-acceleration-program-requests).

## Track applications on the Funding tab

The **Funding** tab lists every funding application raised from this deal:

| Column | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| **Name** | The project name from the application. Click it to open the application's details |
| **Program** | The AWS program the application was submitted under |
| **Status** | Where the application stands, as a tag. If the application has an error, a red exclamation tag sits beside it — hover it to read the message |
| **External ID** | The AWS-side identifier for the application |
| **Last Update** | When the application last changed |

Before you raise your first application, the tab shows **"No funding applications — Create one from this deal with the New Funding button."**

### Open an application's details

Click an application's name to open its details. They are read-only:

- **A failed application leads with the error.** An *AWS funding application failed* alert at the top gives its error message.
- **Overview** — Name, Program, **Suger Status**, **AWS Status** and **Stage**, External ID, Benefit ID, Catalog, Fulfillment Types, and when the application was created and last updated. **Stage** is how far the request has moved through AWS's fund request process — **Business approval**, **Finance approval**, **Pre-approval**, **Cash claim** or **Application completion**, the step names described in [Read the stage](/cosell/cosell-funding/#read-the-stage). It is left out until AWS reports a stage, and a stage Fours does not recognise is shown exactly as AWS sent it.
- **Application Details** — the fields this program's application carries, such as the project name, planned dates, country, ARR or migration phase. Fields the application does not use are left out.
- **Cash Request** with a **Cash Claims** table, or **Credit Request**.
- **Approval** — where the application stands in your organization's funding approval workflow, when one applies: its status, decision date and message.
- **Partner Contact**, **Associated Resources** (the AWS opportunity or wallet the application is linked to) and **Attachments**.

Once an application is submitted, the **Fours Console** is where you follow it through review, approval, and claims — see [Co-Sell Funding](/cosell/cosell-funding/). The HubSpot card shows the status and the details; the console holds the full lifecycle.

## Troubleshooting common issues

| Issue | Possible cause | Resolution |
| --- | --- | --- |
| No **New Funding** button on the Suger card | Your Fours organization has no AWS integration | Funding is AWS-only. Confirm an AWS integration exists in Fours Console → **Settings** → **Integrations** |
| **New Funding** opens an **AWS S3 API Deprecated** notice | The AWS connection still uses the legacy AWS S3 API | Contact your administrator to upgrade to the AWS ACE (Partner Central) API |
| The form does not appear after opening the panel | **Program Type** and **Funding Type** have not both been selected | Select both. The form is only built once the program and funding type are known — a program with a single funding type selects it for you |
| **Preview unavailable** warning after choosing the program | No HubSpot funding mapping exists for this program and funding type, or the preview could not run | Fill in the form by hand, or ask your admin to add a HubSpot mapping for that program and funding type |
| **Mapping warnings** alert appears above the form | Part of the deal could not be mapped cleanly onto the funding application | Check each field named in the alert and correct it by hand before submitting |
| Fields are blank — nothing pre-filled from the deal | No HubSpot funding mapping for this program and funding type | Mappings are set per CRM, program and funding type, so a Salesforce mapping does not pre-fill HubSpot. Ask your admin to configure one — see [Create AWS funding from a HubSpot deal](/cosell/cosell-funding/#create-aws-funding-from-a-hubspot-deal) |
| The opportunity you want is not in **Linked AWS Opportunity ID** | Its stage is not one the program accepts | The list shows only opportunities at an eligible stage — see the stage table in step 5 |
| The **Wallet** list is empty | Your organization has no active wallet for this program | See [Monitor wallets and purchase orders](/cosell/cosell-funding/#monitor-wallets-and-purchase-orders) |
| A red exclamation tag sits next to an application's status | The application failed or carries an error | Hover the tag to read the message, or click the application's name to open its details |
| A submitted application is not in the Funding tab | Sync between Fours and HubSpot is delayed | Refresh the card after a few minutes, then confirm the application exists in the Fours Console |

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Do I need a product in Fours to apply for funding?
No. Funding is the exception on this card — offers and resale authorizations are built on a product, but a funding application is built on the deal plus your AWS ACE integration. You can apply for funding even if you have no products set up.

### Can I apply for funding on an Azure or GCP deal?
No. Funding on the Fours card is AWS-only. The **New Funding** button does not appear unless your organization has an AWS integration.

### What is the difference between Cash and Credit?
A cash request is tied to your company's Amazon Payee Central account — AWS takes the invoicing details from that profile — so every cash program asks for its **Payee Central Account Profile ID** instead of invoice fields, and Market Development Funds cash claims also carry projected leads. A credit request asks for promotional credits instead: Market Development Funds, both PIF: SCA GenAI programs and MPOPP Grow ask for a number of codes and a value per code, ISV Workload Migration asks for a credit amount, and Proof of Concept for the total cost of the project. Not every program offers both — the Migration Acceleration Program is cash-only, and ISV Workload Migration and MPOPP Grow are credit-only.

### Why is the MDF Funding % capped at 50?
AWS funds up to half the cost of an MDF activity. The field is calculated from the activity cost and the amount you request, and it will not go above 50 — if it does, lower the requested amount or raise the total activity cost.

### Where do I track the application after submitting?
In the Fours Console. The **Funding** tab in HubSpot shows the current status and the AWS external ID, and clicking an application's name opens its details, including its stage and any error; the full review, approval, and claim lifecycle lives in the console — see [Co-Sell Funding](/cosell/cosell-funding/).
